NOVA

Hi, Sparkle-Squeak and Gimili2121 here, yesterday we had a  N.O.V.A lesson. We learned about self-consciousnesses and to have a good self-esteem, and also not to say "I don't care!'' You should care. Next week we will launch rockets that we made over the past week. Officer Bybee will bring  the launch pad to shoot them up into the air. There is a website that you can go to Estes.com to get a rocket kit, to build by your self. We have N.O.V.A. every week, and everybody enjoys it. That's all for now this is Gimili2121 and Sparkle- Squeak : )

Fun Run!

Hi, this is Rocket, today we had our fun run at 12:00. We went outside and a track was set up all around the grass, right when we got up on the field we had to start running. I ran around the field 3 times then I started walking because got a side ache. Sixth grade was out there for a half and hour running, after the half and hour was up we all got a little snack. Finally we went inside and that was our fun run!

A few days ago in class we read an article written by an eleven year old girl. This girl watched as the Twin Towers fell. She was sitting in her 6th grade class when she heard something crash. That was when the airplane had flown into the first tower. It was very sad to hear about the Twin Towers from someone who had lived through that day. So many people were killed that day. Osama bin Laden was finally found and killed on May 1, 2011. This past Sunday was the 10 year anniversary of September 11, 2001.

See your teacher!

This is Mr. and Mrs. V in Athens, Greece visiting the ancient ruins of the Acropolis.  How exciting for someone that will be teaching about the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Greece.  To think of the thousands of years of history under our feet.  It helps to put things in perspective. I am so excited for this new year.  My students and I will be exploring, investigating, and discovering our part in this magnificent world!

Today in class, we started a discussion of 9/11.  Such a tragic event.  Most of my students were either 1 or 2 years of age.  One of my precious students turn 2 years old, so she shares her birthday with this event.  We are watching a video on Friday from BrainPop about 9/11.  To see the video and take the short quiz follow the link.  http://www.brainpop.com/socialstudies/ushistory/september11th/  You can email your results to corbi.vanwagoner@canyonsdistrict.org
